Crawley Liberal Democrats leader Gordon Seekings successfully put forward a proposal at the last Full Council meeting (Wednesday April 11) that an all party working group should look at ways to improve Crawley's housing.

The suggestion, totally supported by Labour, was put forward as a result of the Borough Council deciding earlier this year not to go ahead with a ballot of tenants. The Conservatives abstained on the vote.

Speaking after the meeting Gordon said "What has been clear to me for a long time is that although there is a lot of good work being done by the Housing Dept. there is a lot that could be done better."

"Now was the obvious time for change. As a result of this vote we have put in place a way of ensuring all Councillors of all parties can influence the way the Housing Dept. is run - no matter who is in control of Crawley Borough Council on 3rd May."

Gordon concluded by saying "I am just sorry that the Conservatives chose not to support this sensible suggestion as well.
