Public consultation results in changes10.28.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 11th May 2007
Amendments have been made to the proposed improvements to Northgate Parade as a result of consultations with local residents. The amended plans will be on show in the foyer of St Paul's Church, Northgate on Thursday 24th May from 2pm until 7pm. The plans can be viewed from the front page of Crawley Borough Council's website as well - just go to www.crawley.gov.uk and follow the link from there. There is still planning work in progress but the entrance/exit plans for the Car Park has passed a safety audit following some adjustments to the junction and improvements to the crossings. The south bound bus lay-by on the plan for Woodfield Road has been reduced slightly as well to allow for a proper pedestrian crossing to be implemented without affecting the bus service. The County Council have acknowledged that the planned changes have passed the required safety audit process and have asked Crawley Borough Council to apply formally for the works to be adopted as public highway. As this adoption process can take several months and the tenders will need to be approved by Crawley Borough Councils executive, it is proposed to start the construction works in January next year, so the works do not stretch over the Christmas Holiday period.
